Piercing Aftercare Instructions
Don’t TOUCH, TWIST, TURN OR ROTATE your piercing.
Do not use alcohol, peroxide, soaps, oils, or ointments.
Avoid sleeping on your piercing until it is fully healed.
No unhygienic bodies of water or prolonged submersion, hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes, tubs
Do not allow outside bodily fluids to encounter your piercing.
Be mindful of towels, clothing and other materials that may get caught on your jewelry.
You can shower/wash normally allowing soaps and cleansers to rinse over the piercing but avoid intentionally scrubbing or applying products to your piercing.
Flush/Rinse your piercing with a sterile, prepacked saline wound wash 2-3 times daily as needed. Do not soak your piercing excessively throughout the day. Oversaturation can lead to other complications. If your piercing has discharge or build up, you can flush it away with saline.
If discharge/build-up is not rinsing away with saline you can gently apply some assistance with a clean paper towel, sterile gauze, or cotton applicator/Q-tip. Avoid using applicators/Q-tips frequently as fibers can get trapped or left behind on jewelry causing complications.
Swelling, bruising, tenderness, and some bleeding can be normal for your piercing. If you experience these things in excess, please reach out to your piercer for further guidance.
For ear/cartilage piercings do not go to bed with wet hair or allow wet hair to sit on piercings for extended periods. “Piercing pillows” can help keep you from laying on your piercing.
For oral/lip/tongue piercings maintain good oral hygiene. Rinse with water after eating, smoking, vaping etc. Avoid chewing gum and using straws or apparatuses that cause unnecessary tension/suction during the healing process.
For genital piercings avoid sexual contact for the duration your piercer has advised. Do not allow contact with outside bodily fluids in the piercing site during healing. Avoid stimulation for the duration your piercer advises. Keep good general hygiene.
For nipple piercings be mindful of clothing and wear supportive, but unrestrictive clothing during healing.
